Gold whistle/rattle with red coral – Osprey Paris collection
Very rare rattle – whistle with bells in gold and coral, 140 x 40mm, rooster’s head hallmark on the left, beak closed for a small gold guarantee with fittings, departments 1809-1819.
These rattles were worn on a chain by mothers or nannies and were never left with the child unsupervised. Coral was believed to have beneficial effects for teething.
